There should pretty much always be a dedicated right turn lane, so all roads should have +1 lanes at intersections - there is even space for it because there is room along the margin of the road for bus stops/parking/grass - that space could be used for an extra lane at intersections as it is IRL. The main problem is the lack of turning lanes, the devs didn't implement dedicated turning lanes, and because there are no turning lanes, traffic has to "ghost" through each other in order to get any semblance of flow. I admit it's not as good as it could be in Skylines. The Skylines intersections aren't too different to that, traffic which wants to turn across traffic just drive into the intersection, stop (if needed), then wait for an opportunity to cross the traffic - or more probably, just ghost through oncoming traffic. It freaked her out and she was like "never make me do that again!" (normally she'd just wait forever until a gap in the oncoming traffic), but it's how you do when there is no dedicated turn signal and no gaps in the oncoming traffic - just boldly drive out and wait for a gap, which is guaranteed when the lights change. My family comes from a small town without traffic lights, and I went with my mum to a small city, and remember walking her through turning across traffic at a yellow light. When normally only a few cars need to turn across traffic they just start driving into the intersection (stopping about 1/3rd the way across) and wait for either a gap in the traffic or for the light to turn yellow then as the intersection empties they ninja-turn in the short window between yellow and red while oncoming traffic is blocked (during that time the intersection is empty, so you can safely turn, but you have to already be on the intersection else you'd be running a red light). With left turning traffic (which I believe where I come from (NZ) is right turning traffic - traffic turning across the oncoming traffic) it's not unusual for traffic lights in smaller cities to have no special turn signal or phase.
CITIES SKYLINES TRAFFIC LIGHTS GOOD OR BAD MOD
I know it's not ideal, but why not just go full-india and remove traffic lights? The Toggle Traffic Lights mod works fine. I don't even care about complex road systems, I just want the ones I have to operate normal.

Or I'm begging for the modders to fix the traffic mods. I really, really, really want this fixed. Where the hell are the makers of this game from where they think traffic operates like that?įorward moving traffic is going at the same time as left turning traffic? WTF? No, wrong, bad. It pisses me off so completely that the traffic reacts at intersections as if they are in India or something and everyone just goes at once.
CITIES SKYLINES TRAFFIC LIGHTS GOOD OR BAD MODS
I even started a fresh map to see if they would work, but no.still getting infinite negative countdowns.Īnd the sad part about this is, I wouldn't need mods in the first place if the in game traffic wasn't so stupid when making left hand turns. Yes, I deleted all the instances of trafficmanager files, and no, I don't save to the cloud.

I try to set timed lights with it and it just does the infinite negative countdown that the TrafficManager mods seemed to have fixed a long time ago. So, I originally had TrafficManager, it crashed the game a lot, got TrafficManager Plus, it randomly crashed the game all the time when trying to save, and now I have Traffic Manager + Improved AI, and it seems really stable.however, it is probably really stable because it does literally nothing.
